Glycation represents a biochemical process that involves a series of non-enzymatic reactions between proteins and reducing sugars, influencing the structure and activity of proteins. Glycation, in fact, is a slow process in which reducing sugar molecules react with the free amino groups of proteins, leading to the formation of chemically stable and non-enzymatically degradable compounds called AGEs (advanced glycation end-products). The accumulation of protein glycation products in living organisms leads to structural and functional changes in tissue proteins.

In the skin, this process causes the stiffening of the dermis proteins, namely collagen and elastin, leading to a loss of elasticity and premature aging. In fact, the glycation of collagen and elastin fibers determines the consequent loss of elasticity of the fibers, which become rigid and generally structured.

This condition, therefore, induces:

  • thinning of the dermis
  • loss of skin softness
  • appearance of wrinkles
  • yellowing of the skin

GlycoAGE was developed to be included in anti-aging and anti-wrinkle products and is able to inhibit and reduce the glycation process, preventing premature skin aging.

Actions:

  • Inhibits the formation of AGEs
  • Reduces wrinkles
  • Improves elasticity
  • Prevents yellowing of the skin
